Vendor Biography

Sohaila Alizai is the Head of the Zaranj Women’s Handicrafts and Tailoring Workshop in Nimroz Province, Afghanistan. She launched the workshop in 2023 with the mission of empowering women through vocational training, sustainable employment, and economic independence.

Ms. Alizai lives in Nimroz Province and completed her education up to Grade 14 in Midwifery. She lives with her family and has more than four years of professional experience in handicrafts, tailoring, and women’s entrepreneurship.

Under her leadership, the Zaranj Women’s Handicrafts and Tailoring Workshop produces a wide range of high-quality handmade products, including handwoven carpets, traditional and modern clothing, and various handicrafts. The workshop currently provides employment opportunities for 60 people, the majority of whom are women.

She established this business in response to the difficult social and economic conditions faced by women, with the goal of helping them become financially independent and self-reliant. Through skills development and job creation, she is committed to improving the lives of women and strengthening their role in society.

Sohaila Alizai’s long-term vision is to expand employment opportunities for disadvantaged women, preserve Afghanistan’s rich handicraft traditions, support local production, and contribute to the sustainable economic empowerment of women across the country.
