I am Roqia Abdullahi, originally from Maidan Wardak province. I lived as a refugee in Iran for thirty years, where I completed my high school education. During that time, I learned tailoring and handicrafts and worked in various workshops.
Later, I moved to Kabul and then to Herat, where I decided to establish my own independent workshop. I started with just one sewing machine, taking small orders, and gradually expanded my business.
In 2019, I officially obtained a business license and established a large workshop. Today, my workshop employs 15 women as tailors and 3 men for marketing and sales. I also opened a shop in the center of Herat city, where I manage orders and sales representation.
Alongside my business, I pursued my education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Persian Literature at Herat University. Despite interruptions in my studies, I continued and successfully obtained a Master’s degree in Persian Literature.
My main goal has always been personal growth in both academic and business fields, because I believe that I must first build my own capacity in order to support more women in employment and entrepreneurship. In addition, I strive to empower them with knowledge and skills in technology capacity-building.
