“Khurshid Taban Zanan Handicrafts and Production” is a prominent production center in Afghanistan that specializes in jewelry-making, engraving, bag stitching, and tailoring. It was originally established in Block 16 of the low-cost area. The founder, Ms. Rahima Haji Zada, began her journey in 2007 as a jewelry-making trainee at the Khurshid Taban Afghan Educational Institute, supported by the Nazo Germany Association.
Growth and Progress:
Initial Training and Start of Work:
In 2007, Ms. Haji Zada joined the jewelry-making department as a trainee.
By 2009, she was appointed as the representative of the jewelry-making department and continued as a producer alongside a team of six people until 2011.
Becoming a Master and Expanding Activities:
Between 2012 and 2015, she served as a jewelry-making instructor.
In 2015, with a financial grant of 156,000 Afghanis from Nazo Germany and under the Khurshid Taban Afghan Institute, she started her production activities with seven trainees and one engraving instructor.
Expanding Responsibilities:
Gradually, she assumed responsibility for bag stitching and tailoring departments.
In 2017, she became a member of the Afghanistan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and officially registered her business with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce.
Obtaining Official Licenses and Scaling Up:
In 2018, she acquired an official license for the handicrafts center from the Ministry of Commerce and AISA.
By 2021, the center had grown to employ 30 individuals, including marketers and salespeople.
Challenges and Relocation:
With the establishment of the new government in Afghanistan, operations in jewelry-making and bag stitching at Block 16 of the low-cost area came to a halt. Despite these challenges, the center has successfully continued its activities at the Gulbahar Trade Center, located at Malek Asghar Square in Kabul, since 2018.
Current Services:
Production and delivery of high-quality industrial and traditional garments.
Attracting domestic and international customers, offering products both wholesale and retail.
Employing 20 male and female staff members actively.
