Vendor Biography

I am Maryam Kabiri, a social entrepreneur and the President of Unique Design Production Company, recognized as one of the leading women in the fields of art and industry in Afghanistan.

After completing my primary education in 2013, I enrolled at the Kamaluddin Behzad Vocational Institute of Industries. With outstanding results, I was admitted to Herat University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts – Watercolor Painting Department in 2016. During this period, I participated in several art exhibitions and proudly won the UNHCR Art Competition Award under the theme “The Experience of Displacement – Escaping War.”

I later served as the Administrative Deputy of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Herat University and worked for several years as a lecturer in the academic and cultural section of “Hewad.”

As an active member of the Afghan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Western Zone), I was honored to receive the Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Award from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan in 2020. I also received the prestigious Bibi Khadija Award, a certificate of appreciation from the ICRC Art Competition, and several certificates through women’s capacity-building programs such as HAWK VISION. Additionally, I had the privilege to represent women entrepreneurs of Herat for six months in the Search Advocacy Program, where I played an influential role.

I am proud to be the first Afghan woman pioneering in laser engraving, carving, and the design of home décor items with stone decorations. Over the years, I have participated in more than 20 domestic exhibitions, and on August 28, 2024, I attended the international seminar “GET Ahead.” These efforts have brought me numerous honors, awards, and certificates at both national and international levels.

My company, Unique Design, founded in 2017, specializes in engraving, laser art, home decoration, and stone-based designs. Since its establishment, we have achieved remarkable progress and recognition in the industry.

The vision of my company is not only to promote and expand the art of laser engraving but also to create employment opportunities for young women and men passionate about this profession. Currently, we provide jobs for 11 womenand 4 men.
